The Shopify Plus platform offering has seen unprecedented growth in recent times, with thousands of brands and retailers in the mid-market and enterprise segment moving over to the SaaS platform from either legacy platforms or more bespoke setups (alongside well-backed DTC brands launching on the platform or growing through other Shopify versions).

With Shopify’s semi-recent September announcement of Markets Pro and a Global-e partnership, we wanted to share insight into what the updated Global-e integrated checkout blog looks like, and how this can benefit both merchants and customers.

Revealed as one of the major announcements at Unite a year ago, Hydrogen and Oxygen combined are Shopify’s answer to a headless commerce stack. This came off the back of around 18 months of the headless trend gaining momentum, and a growing number of high profile brands strongly considering or taking action to move towards that architecture.

We’ve been looking at Web3 a lot this year, around real world use cases and making sense of what is hype, and what is genuine usable innovation. As part of our Pulse Ecommerce Summit ‘22 in November, we were keen to do something interesting and hands-on inline with the Web3 panel in order to provide a “learn by doing” experience.

Over the last few months, we’ve had various issues raised with clients or other people that are using Global-e to handle international pricing, primarily around multi currency and pricebooks (managed via Global-e) for their Shopify store.

I originally wrote this article in early 2018, as we started seeing more brands looking at both Shopify Plus and Salesforce Commerce Cloud and also more SFCC users reviewing Shopify Plus as a potential migration option. Since I originally wrote the article, lots has changed with both platforms and we’ve done a lot more with both platforms, so I decided to update it now (May 22).
