Tom Wilson is one of our Senior Paid Media Consultants and was one of the earliest hires for Vervaunt as a Junior Paid Media Executive. We caught up with him to walk through what a day in his working life was like, and shed some light for new graduates and trainees about what it's like to work in paid media.
"After working in a couple of different fields as a graduate (brand, design and even aerospace engineering), I still hadn’t found a career I found fulfilling. Paid media felt like a great fit for what I was looking for, with a clear link between the work you put in day to day and the results you drive for clients."
"I think the quick gratification of seeing the results you drive for clients was a big draw for me, and joining the industry at a time where eCommerce was growing really fast was very appealing. I wanted to work on the agency side and have a lot of variety in my day to day work and to be exposed to a variety of different clients with different challenges and goals."
"Day to day the job varies quite a bit! In a typical day, we are communicating with clients around recent performance, the plan of action for the week and month ahead, working on longer term planning, activating campaigns, and attending industry training and events with our tech partners. Client meetings are always a highlight, especially as we build really good relationships with the brands that we work with."
"The Frankie Shop is one of my favourite clients to work on. They hadn’t run any paid media in the past so it was really exciting to build out their roadmap and we have seen great results which makes the job really satisfying. We also have a great relationship with the client which makes working on the account that bit more fun."
